Cheapside Bar and Grill

We were playing in the fountains in downtown Lexington last weekend (post about this coming up), and decided to get some lunch. Lexington has grown so much in the four years that we have lived here and the restaurant scene has really improved. But, we haven't really explored it very much since it seems fairly kid-unfriendly. Anyway, the weather was beautiful, so we were hoping to be able to sit outside somewhere and wanted to be able to walk there fairly quickly. So, I remembered Cheapside Bar and Grill (link here). It was around noon on a Saturday but there were tons of open seats available both inside and out. We asked to sit outside and everything looked like it was going great until we asked for a high chair. Apparently, they don't have high chairs. Ugh, ok. Little man can do a booster chair fairly easily. However, the chairs that they have outside are really narrow and wobble, so we were told to not put the booster on the chairs. So, they sat us at a little table with a bench and a pass through behind it. I tried to be okay with this. Sure, lets try it. Picture this, my husband and I trying to look over the menu (by the way, either they don't have kids menus or we just weren't given one) while holding onto my son, who is now climbing over the pass through to see what is on the other side while his booster is sliding all around the little bench it was sitting on. I tried. I really did. But, we left.
I know this is part bar and part grill, but I was really surprised that they do not have any high chairs and do not really have much seating that can accommodate a booster seat. So, really this place was not kid-friendly. At all. Too bad. It has decent food and a good location and great outdoor seating for a kid who likes to watch the world go by while eating.
