What's Happening this Weekend- May 27th and 28th

Lots of fun things to do this Memorial Day Weekend. Check out a Memorial Day Festival, Farmer's Market Fun play, Touch a Truck event, Poolapalooza, Wild West event, Discovery Saturday, and some fun story times. Looks like a wet, but warm, weekend coming up with highs in the low 80s and thunderstorms and rain in the forecast. But, Monday looks much drier for your picnics. Have a great one!

Saturday, May 27th

Eckert's Boyd Orchards in Versailles is having a Memorial Weekend Festival event from 9:30am to 5pm. This is the weekend to share with family and friends. And what better place to share it than the family farm! Enjoy live entertainment at this old-fashioned all-American festival. Kid’s activities include pony rides, children’s play area, petting farm, carnival rides, and more. Fee charged for some activities. More information here.

The Family Center in Wilmore is having a Farmer's Market FUN! Salads event from 9:30am to 10:30am. Farmer's Market FUN! is a great way to include the whole family in our Wilmore Farmer's Market. Located just across the street families may come for a time of games, crafts and stories at 9:30am. At 10am we open up our Farmer's Market Village Play Area for Free Play. Each week brings a new presenter and topic!Karli, from the Jessamine County Extension Office, will be leading our program. Lettuce and greens often serve as the basis for yummy colorful mutli-veggie salads! So "Lettuce" get together for some fun!We suggest a donation per family to cover cost of this program. Touch a Truck event in Mount Sterling from 10am to 4pm. Will include the Batmobile (and Batman), train, cement mixer, tow trucks, helicopter, and much more. $10 per carload. More information here.

Whispering Woods Wild West Weekend in Georgetown from 10am to 4pm. Don’t miss out on some old fashion fun for the whole family. Lots of games, petting zoo, pony rides, trail rides, and food. Free Admission just buy tickets for activities only $1 each. More information here.

The Living Arts & Science Center is having a Discovery Saturday and Family Workshop event from 10am to 2pm. Friends and Family can take advantage of all the NEW opportunities at the LASC in our Space exhibit, art exhibits, hands-on Makers Space, our Planetarium, and NOW you can also choose additional fun-filled art activity designed for all ages and all skill levels. Each month will present different activities, exhibits and Planetarium shows!AM Workshop (10:30 - Noon):Beautiful Burlap with Toni Warren. Planetarium Shows (11:00 and 1:15):The Search for Life in the Universe.PM Workshop (12:30 - 2): Try Your Hand at the Wheel with Marianne Brown Mize..Take advantage of all of the Discovery Saturday offerings with CREATOR BANDS! Southland Park is having a Poolapalooza from 12pm to 4pm. Kick-off the summer swimming season with a splash at Poolapalooza. Held at the Southland Aquatic Center, this event will feature free pool admission, games, giveaways, music and other family-friendly activities. More information here.

Michael's Stores are having a MAKE Red, White, and Blue Slime event from 1pm to 3pm. Stop by your local Michaels Store Saturday 1:00-3:00 for a MAKEbreak! MAKE red, white & blue slime all the supplies are FREE! Or MAKE a patriotic tulle headband, buy the tulle and the rest of your headband supplies are FREE!Age 3 and up welcome. Joseph Beth is having an It's a TACOPOCALYPSE featuring Dragons Love Tacos The Sequel at 11:00 am. Hey Reader! Imagine a world without tacos. You just got a little scared didn't you? Join us as we celebrate everyone's favorite mythological creature and the most perfect food ever created. The dragons and the tacos are back and we have to help save the tacos with stories, songs and a fun craft. More information here.

Barnes and Noble is having a Pete the Cat and the Cool Cat Boogie Storytime event at 11:00 AM. Join us as we read a brand-new story from New York Times bestselling author-illustrator team James and Kimberly Dean where Pete the Cat is learning a new dance --- the Cool Cat Boogie! Sky Zone has Toddler Time from 10am to 11am. Let your kids 5 and under enjoy three different jumping areas, including a foam pit. Toddler Time is a great shared experience for child and parent. A time for your little ones to discover the joy of being active, bouncing under the supervision of their parents, and without interference from the big kids. $12 per child, including socks. $2 extra for non-jumper parent socks.
