What's Happening this Weekend- May 6th and 7th

Lots of great things to do this weekend including a Farmer's Market Fun event, Free Comic Book Day event, Mother's Day crafts, Mother Daughter Tea Event, fun story times, and a Jr. Chef Baking event. Weather is looking cold again, with highs in the low 50s/high 40s and some rain on Saturday. Have a fantastic Derby Weekend!

Saturday, May 6th

The Family Center in Wilmore is having a Farmer's Market FUN event from 9:30am to 10:30am. This is a great way to include the whole family in our Wilmore Farmer's Market. Located just across the street families may come for a time of games, crafts and stories at 9:30am. At 10am we open up our Farmer's Market Village Play Area for Free Play. Each week brings a new presenter and topic! FLOWER FUN! with Creative Montessori School from Nicholasville. Come enjoy a program on how the Montessori method can be used to show children how to care for flowers and how to enjoy flower arranging. Rachel's Rose Garden will be providing flowers. Each child can take one of their favorites home. Or if parents just LOVE their arrangments they can be bought at cost. ALSO - Today is the Annual Flower Sale in Wilmore PLUS opening day of The Farmer's Market. We suggest a donation per family to cover cost of this program Members are FREE. Collectibles, Etc. is celebrating Free Comic Book Day from 10am to 8pm. Free Comic Book Day is an annual promotional effort by the comic book industry to help bring new readers into independent comic book stores.Free Comic Book Day has three main purposes:To introduce everyone to the joys of reading comics.To call back former comic book readers.To thank current comic book buyers for their continued support.We do this by providing hundreds of free comics to be given away during this event along with running an amazing sale. Micheal's Stores are having a MAKEbreak Mother's Day event from 1pm to 3pm. Bring your family into stores this Saturday, 5/06 from 1-3pm local time and enjoy designing a coaster set and a mug for Mom! Buy the mug & the rest of the supplies will be provided to personalize their mug AND create coasters to match! More information here.

Hopewell Museum in Paris is having a Free Family Fun Hour: Spinning Yarn event from 2pm to 3pm. Learn how wool is spun into yard using a drop spindle and see a spinning wheel demonstration with instructor Leah Craig. Free for children and adults. More information here.

The Family Center in Wilmore is having Family Music Night event. Mini Music is babies to 2 years of age is at 5pm. Singing Stars is 2 to 8 years of age at 5:45pm. Music Wellness for Caregivers is at 6:30pm. Spectrum Musicians (sch0ol-age) is at 7:15pm. Cost is $10 per class. More information here.

Cut and Paste Craft Studio is having a Mother Daughter Tea Party from 3:30pm to 5pm. Celebrate Mother's Day a week early at our Mother Daughter Tea Party. We'll enjoy cookies and tea, then paint a tea cup planter and add a flowering plant. The cost is $20 and includes one tea cup planter per pair and refreshments. Williams-Sonoma at Fayette Mall is having a Jr. Chef Baking for Mom event at 10am. Hey Kids! Mother’s Day is right around the corner and we’recelebrating with a fun class all about baking! We’ll teach youto bake like a pro and create a dessert that is perfect for mom!Suitable for ages 8-13. More information here.

Home Depot is having a Kid's Workshop event from 9am to 12pm. Join our hands-on workshop where you and your child can build a flower pot to hold spring flowers to keep or give to Mom. Once the project is complete, your child can paint their project to personalize it. All kids get to keep their project, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. o Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin. Barnes and Noble is having a Dragons Love Tacos 2: The Sequel Storytime Special Event at 11:00 AM. It has just been discovered that there are no more tacos left anywhere in the world. This is a huge problem because, as you know, dragons love tacos. Join us as we read the hilarious companion to the bestselling phenomenon, with activities to follow. More information here.
Joseph Beth is having a Derby Day Craftapalooza at 11:00 am. Let's run for the roses and make a fun derby day craft to celebrate! More information here.

Lexington Children's Theatre is performing Circle and Square at 10am and 11:30am. When Circle and Square meet for the first time, they realize that they are very different from each other. Will they be able to find a way to play together, despite their differences? Discover the wonderful world of shapes through this interactive show! For ages 2-5. Tickets $7. More information here.

Sky Zone has Toddler Time from 10am to 11am. Let your kids 5 and under enjoy three different jumping areas, including a foam pit. Toddler Time is a great shared experience for child and parent. A time for your little ones to discover the joy of being active, bouncing under the supervision of their parents, and without interference from the big kids. $12 per child, including socks. $2 extra for non-jumper parent socks.
