Hartland Park

Hartland Park is another great smaller park in Lexington. It is in south Lexington in the Hartland neighborhood. Parking is just street parking, but there is usually lots of parking along the road, so I have never had to look for parking or parallel park. The playground is up the hill a bit and through the grass. This park has a covered pavillion with picnic table and no permanent restroom, but does have a porta-potty. So, maybe not the best choice for your potty-training kiddos.

The playground has two main structures, one for smaller kids and one for bigger kids. It also has two baby swings and two bigger swings, a see-saw, a climbing wall and other climbing structure. There are plenty of slides, two climbing tubes and a wheel you can turn with balls in it (in picture below). My son really likes this playground and it is really close to our house, so we come here whenever we don't have a lot of time.

This park does not have any shade, so it is a great playground for the winter, fall and early spring but can be really hot for summer days. There is also a ton of land around the park for running and exploring. For those of you that have kids that like being in a stroller, there is a nice paved circular walk next to the park.
My sons favorite thing to do at this park though is find sticks and throw rocks into the pond. When we went today, he loved throwing rocks into the pond and watching the giant turtles coming up and seeing what he was doing. They sure were looking for food, but I have no idea what a turtle eats. So, if you are looking for a new morning park, I would definitely check this one out!
