Belleau Woods Park

Another great park in the south end of Lexington is Belleau Woods. It is located off of Wilson Downing Drive. To get to the park, you turn right off of Wilson Downing onto Forest Green Drive. The park will be on your left. The address is 3770 Forest Green Drive. The only parking is street parking, but there is never really anyone there, so there is plenty of parking. There is also one handicapped parking space that is set in and has a path down to the park.

The park has two play areas, one for smaller kids and one for larger ones, both with lots of climbing areas and slides. It also has a monkey-bar structure, regular swings and baby swings. Most of the play area is in the sun, which only part of the larger one being under the shade. So, the cool split slides on the larger structure get super hot on a hot day. Like burn your butt hot. So, make sure to check them before letting your kid play on them.

This park does have a covered pavillion, picnic tables in the shade and a grill. But,it does not have any bathroom facilities. And, it is a bit of a drive to the nearest public restroom. So, maybe not the best park for a potty-training kiddo.

There is also a paved walking path that is approximately 0.4 miles long. There are a ton of nice trees for climbing and tons of open space for running too. So, it is a great park for kids that just like to run and play. Lastly, there is a good amount of space between the playground and the street, so you don't need to worry about your kids ending up in the road.

So, if you need a new park to check out, Belleau Woods is a good choice. It is a smaller playground but it is always pretty empty and there is plenty of grass for kicking balls or running around.
