What's Going on this Weekend? September 24th-25th

It is officially fall, but you wouldn't know it with the weather! The forecast calls for sunny days this weekend with highs around 89 degrees. So, keep those shorts handy! Lots of great things to do in and around Lexington, including orchard festivals, fun storytimes, some snake viewing, and the much anticipated Touch a Truck event on Sunday. Enjoy this warm weather because those brisk fall days are right around the corner (I hope). Enjoy!

Saturday, September 24th:

Boyd Orchard is having an Ole Cider Cider Days Festival. Take a hayride around the orchard, stop and pick some apples or pumpkins, enjoy lunch on the patio with live music and let the kids play on their playgrounds. Take your turn on the 90 foot slide, play on the 3 story tree house, or make your way to the top of the Giant Hay Castle! Kids $12 and adults $8. Hayrides can be purchased separately. 9:30am to 7pm. 1396 Pinckard Pike, Versailles. Info here.

Evans Orchard is having a Harvest Festival, which includes pony and hay rides, corn bin, tire climb, large slides, jumping pillows, fresh kettle corn, train rides, and animal area. 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. $8 per child, adults free with a paid child admission. 180 Stone Rd. Bi-Water Farms is having their AutumnFest. They have hayrides, Spooky FarmHouse, Enchanted Barnyard, Pirates Cove, Trike Track, Barnyard Babies, Lost Pumpkin Mine, li’l Pumpkin Play Patch, The Bird House, Bunnyville, Cowboy Corral, Billy Goat Mountain, 5 Acre Corn Maze, Sky High Slide, People Spinners, Bi-Water Ball Park, Pumpkin Vine Zip Lines, Bounce Around Corral, Chutes & Slides. General Admission. $10 plus sales tax. 2 years and younger are free. 9am-9pm. More information here.

Salato Wildlife Education Center is having Serpent Saturday at 2:30pm. Education staff will have an assortment of our program reptiles on display, giving visitors the opportunity to view and learn something new about these fascinating and sometimes misunderstood animals. Have you ever wondered what kind of snake is living under your porch or what a snake feels like to the touch? Now’s your chance to find out! Japan Summer Festival located downtown at the Courthouse from 11am-6pm. Free. Includes drummers, live music, try on kimonos, try on a sumo suit, various activity booths, and a Japanese market with food and goods. More information here.

The Living Arts and Science Center is having A Discovery Saturday & Planetarium Show: Earth Moon and Sun. Explore the new Discovery Exhibit, Out of this World: A Space Adventure, several art galleries, and hands-on science in the Makers Space. End with a starry planetarium show starting at 1:15. Starting at 10am. Suitable for audiences 5 and up. Admission is $4 per person, $3 for members. 362 North Martin Luther King Junior Blvd. More information here.

Community Eid Festival is being held from 12pm to 6pm at the MoonDance Amphitheater (1152 Monarch Street). They will be having Halal Food, burgers, pizza, inflatables, face painting, petting zoo, pony rides, games and much more. More information here.

St Andrew's Heritage Festival Join us in celebrating the heritage of our multi-cultural church during our two day festival. Enjoy food and dance from the Middle East, Greek and Slavic traditions plus many more! Church tours and choir concerts offered daily. Browse our bookstore and take part in the popular silent auction. Headley-Whitney Museum is having a workshop about Dream Catchers from 1-3pm. Dream catchers have been used for hundreds of years to bring its owner positive dreams. in this workshop you will learn the history and powers of dream catchers and make your very own. Raven Run is having Our Little Explorers. They are designed for elementary-aged visitors who want to explore the park and get a chance to complete an art project, all in the same tour! We supply all the equipment for our trail explorations as well as all the art supplies needed to complete your art project. Kentucky Children's Garden is having a Worm Hike at 1pm and 3pm. Admission is $3 per person (and remember to pay at the Visitor's Center). 500 Alumni Drive.

Touch a Truck from the Child Development Center of the Bluegrass (CDCB) runs from 1pm-5pm at Keeneland. This event offers a unique opportunity for Central Kentuckians of all ages to learn about construction vehicles, emergency vehicles, and service vehicles of all sizes in a fun and safe environment. Also experience fun family activities like a bounce house, brick building, local mascots, sensory activity experience, face painting, silent auction, food trucks and so much more!
