What's Going on this Weekend? October 15th and 16th

Apparently the fall weather is on hold again this weekend. But, that means we will have beautiful warm days with highs around 80 degrees. Lots of fun fall activities are on the calendar for this weekend though. Orchard festivals, Party for the Pumpkins, Keeneland sunrise trackside and Family Day, special storytimes, and Little Goblins Galore at McConnell Springs. So, I hope you have the finishing touches done on those Halloween costumes! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Saturday, October 15th

Boyd Orchard is having their October Fest. Take a hayride around the orchard, stop and pick some apples or pumpkins, enjoy lunch on the patio with live music and let the kids play on their playgrounds. Take your turn on the 90 foot slide, play on the 3 story tree house, or make your way to the top of the Giant Hay Castle! Kids $12 and adults $8. Evans Orchard is having a Harvest Festival, which includes pony and hay rides, corn bin, tire climb, large slides, jumping pillows, fresh kettle corn, train rides, and animal area. 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. $8 per child, adults free with a paid child admission. 180 Stone Rd. Bi-Water Farms is having their AutumnFest. They have hayrides, Spooky Farm House, Enchanted Barnyard, Pirates Cove, Trike Track, Barnyard Babies, Lost Pumpkin Mine, li'l Pumpkin Play Patch, The Bird House, Bunnyville, Cowboy Corral, Billy Goat Mountain, 5 Acre Corn Maze, Sky High Slide, People Spinners, Bi-Water Ball Park, Pumpkin Vine Zip Lines, Bounce Around Corral, Chutes & Slides. General Admission is $10 per person. 2 years and younger are free. 9am-9pm. More information here.

The Farm at Landworks in Paris is having their Fall Festival from 9am to 6pm. They will have food, Hillvale play area, pumpkin picking, corn maze, hayrides, and petting zoo. Free entry but the activities have a fee of $2.50. You can get a all-in-one pass for $8 per person. 246 Hume Bedford Rd, Paris. More information here.

The Arboretum is hosting the annual Party for the Pumpkins from 2pm to 6pm. They will have pumpkins galore, crafts, activities, music, creatures in costume and more. Admission to the Kentucky Children's Garden is included in the ticket price. We hope you plan to attend this year for a fun and enjoyable event for the whole family. The Pavilion in Georgetown is having their Haunted Swamp from 5:30pm to 8pm. Canoe rides through our child friendly Haunted Swamp, games, prizes and fun! The Leisure Pool will be open too. Jessamine County Public Library is having a Comic Surge from 10am to 1pm. Celebrate comics, graphic novels, and geek-tastic pop culture! Meet characters from your favorite comics and movies, take advantage of great photo ops, participate in a costume contest with awesome prizes, connect with authors and artists, and learn more about the resources JCPL has to offer comic-lovers! All activities and character interactions are FREE for all. Vendors and artists will also have merchandise for sale during the event. Cosplayers and costumes are enthusiastically welcomed, just check the information page for guidelines. Children, teens, and adults can come as their favorite fantasy, science fiction, anime, or comic book characters and win gift cards to shop our Comic Surge vendors and artists' tables. At 12:00 p.m., all participants will have the chance to show off their costumes on the runway so the audience can choose their favorites. - 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. visit the judges booth for scoring - 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. the costume show will take place, and the winners in each category will be announced. Learning Express Toys of Louisville is having Marshall and Peppa Pig visit from 12pm to 5pm. All Paws on Deck!!! That's right...Marshall from the adorable Paw Patrol will be here between 12-2pm on Saturday, October 15th, and not only that but Peppa Pig is returning! Keeneland is having their Sunrise Trackside event. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the morning works every Saturday during the race season. Enjoy breakfast in the trackside Equestrian Dining Room for $8 (kids five and under eat free). Visit the Kids Club Corner and meet the Keeneland mascot Buckles. There will be free activities, including photos in jockey silks, face painting, and more. Learn about Keeneland through a guided walking tour of the grounds. Tour groups will depart from the welcome stand in the Paddock. Watch a live, educational equine demonstration take place in the saddling paddock, with a new guest each Saturday. Learn from the experts with a trackside handicapping seminar with handicapper Katie Gensler. Q&A with jockeys in the Walking Ring. Reservations are not taken or needed. Williams-Sonoma is having another Jr. Chef event at 10am. Hey, kids—let’s make pasta! We’ll show you how to cut out ravioli using a cool tool called a ravioli plaque, and together we’ll cook a yummy sauce for our pasta. Kentucky Reptile Zoo is having their Halloween Ssssssspooktacular from 11am to 6pm. Join us and our reptile friends for our 4th year of Halloween fun! Salato is having a raptor roundup from 3-4pm. Celebrate “Hawktoberfest” by getting an up close and personal look at some of the birds of prey that call Salato home! Our educators and raptors will be on hand from 3:00 to 4:00pm for your chance to learn more about these beautiful birds while en­joying a great view - no binoculars needed! No registration required. Shaker Village is having a Seed Saving event. The Farm at Shaker Village carries on a long tradition of preserving historic varieties of vegetables and herbs by saving seeds from year to year. Learn how you can save money and grow more nutrient-rich, resilient plants by saving seeds from your own garden. Take home a few varieties of Shaker Village heirloom seeds to start your own plants. McConnell Springs is having Little Goblins Galore from 1pm to 5pm. Youth can wear their Halloween costume as they trick-or-treat alongside friendly characters. There will also be a petting zoo, carnival games and special entertainment. Food and soft drinks will be available to buy throughout the day.Lexington Parks & Recreation will run courtesy shuttles from the Lexington Waste Management Training Pad at 1631 Old Frankfort Pike, located across from the Lexington Humane Society. The shuttles will run continuously between McConnell Springs and the Training Pad throughout the event from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. Drop off and pick up locations will be identified at each location. Cincinnati Zoo is having their HallZOOween. Children 12 & under can trick-or-treat around the zoo, enjoy animal encounters, ride the Hogwarts Express Train and more.
