What's Going on this Weekend- November 12th and 13th


A fairly quiet weekend coming up but there are still some great choices to get out and about. Check out a Fall Fling at the Co-op, enjoy some play with the Veteran's Day Parade in Wilmore, a Lego event at the library, the Bluegrass Baby Expo, a pumpkin pie Jr Chef class, and a penguin storytime. The weather will be chilly with a high of 53 on Saturday and a high of 61 on Sunday. So bundle up and have a great weekend!

Saturday, November 12th

Fayette Cooperating Preschool is having their Fall Fling event from 10am to 1pm. Friends of the Fayette Cooperating Preschool and Kindergarten! It's time for our annual Fall Fling fundraiser, celebration and silent auction!Friends! Friends! COME OUT, friends, big and small! If you've ever held the Co-op School dear, you know we need your support! And this year's FALL FLING is the perfect opportunity — there are activities for all, AND amazing opportunities to check some things off that Christmas list that you've just started!The event is FREE and open to the public — no Co-op affiliation is needed to find great presents (or even just for a giant play date for your little ones, playing carnival games, jumping, climbing, and socializing)! 3564 Clays Mill Road. The Family Center is having a Wilmore Veteran's Day Parade event from 9:30am to 10:30am. Come Join the Family Center to watch the Wilmore Veterans Day parade! The Center will be open from 9:15 to 10:30 am with a play area and restrooms available all through parade.At 9:30 enjoy crafts and a story before the parade. Then either proceed outside and gather candy, or keep the little ones inside to stay warm. PARADE: 10 AM AND CEREMONY AT THOMAS-HOOD VETERANS CENTER at 11:11. 334 E Main Street, Wilmore. Bluegrass Baby Expo at the Convention Center from 10am to 3pm. When expecting a new baby it can become overwhelming to learn about all of the new gadgets on the market, which hospital or pediatrician to choose from, when to hire a doula or newborn photographer and so on. Then parents turn around and it’s time to enroll their little one into preschool! Do they choose from two days a week or five days a week? Does the school have a Montessori program? The options are endless!The Bluegrass Baby Expo will be a one stop shop to learn and experience products and services from preconception to preschool in one place! There will be exhibition vendors, a nursing area, something special for the dad’s, a massage center, delicious refreshments, awesome presenters on various topics and great giveaways! Division of Parks & Rec is having an Outdoor Skills Classes. Learn skills including camping, hiking, knots, orienteering, paddling and backpacking. 9-10 a.m. McConnell Springs. Info: 225-4073.

Barnes and Noble in Hamburg is having a Penguin Problems Storytime at 11am. In Penguin Problems, a penguin levels with human readers about what penguin life is really like. Have you ever considered running away to Antarctica? Of course you have! Because it's a land free of worries and responsibilities ... or is it? This book is sure to tickle kids' funny bones. Joseph Beth is having a Lexington Ballet Presents the Nutcracker event at 11am. A perennial holiday story time favorite. Help us welcome The Lexington Ballet Company for a special preview of The Nutcracker! We'll share a story, enjoy some dancing, meet a ballerina, and make a fun craft! More information here.

Legacy All Sports is having a Saturday Night Open Gym from 6pm to 9pm. Children 5 and up may stay unattended; all others may have a parent accompany them in the gym. The cost is $10/member and $15/non-member. Concessions are available at most open gyms; snacks, candy, drinks, and pizza (per slice) are $1 each. Concessions Cards are available for purchase at any desired amount during open gym sign-in. Pre-registration is recommended and is accepted until 5:00pm the day of. More information here.

Williams Sonoma in Fayette Mall is having a Thanksgiving Helper: Pumpkin Pie Jr. Chef class at 10am. If dessert is your favorite part of the Thanksgiving feast, this is the class for you! Toys R Us is having a NEXO Knight LEGO build event from 12pm to 2pm. Build & take home a FREE LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS Monster! Tates Creek Library is having a LEGO event from 2pm to 3pm. Build your dreams with the world’s favorite construction toy. For ages 5-10. Registration recommended.

Salato Wildlife Center in Frankfort is having an Archery for Beginners event from 2pm to 4pm. Learning to shoot a bow is fun and easy! Join us be­tween 2 pm and 4 pm for your chance to receive basic hands-on instruction that will improve your skills and knowledge of archery safety. All bows, arrows, targets, and necessary equipment will be provided. No regis­tration required. Free with general admission. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for children and free for children 4 and under.
