What's Going on this Weekend December 3rd and 4th

We are officially in December and there are a ton of holiday events going on this weekend! If you are needing a Santa fix, there is a breakfast with Santa, a Santa Fly-In at the Aviation Museum, or have tea with Mrs. Claus. Georgetown and Wilmore are also having their parades. Weather this weekend looks cooler with highs around 47 degrees. Should be sunny on Saturday but we will have rain on Sunday. As a reminder, no library storytimes in the month of December!

Saturday, December 3rd

Vineyard Community Church is having a Breakfast with Santa from 9am to 1030am. Everyone is invited to come eat breakfast with Santa on December 3rd at our Eastland Campus! Santa will be here between 9:00-10:30 and a free continental breakfast will be served. There will be crafts for the kids and free photos for everyone. 1881 Eastland Parkway. More information here.

Ashland is having A Kentucky Christmas from 10am to 5pm. A Kentucky Christmas at Ashland is the best holiday "house party" in Lexington! Stroll the grounds during the Kentucky Market from 10:00-5:00. The market features local artisans, farm fresh edibles, fine art, jewelry, and handmade gifts. They will also have book signings from local authors. Specialty sandwiches and white chicken chili served at the cafe.After the Market, stick around for the magical Ashland Illumination at dusk where they will light several trees and outbuildings around the mansion. Following the Illumination will be Candlelight Tours of the mansion--last guests admitted at 7:00.The Market is free to the public, but there is a $5 parking charge. The Aviation Museum of Kentucky is having A Santa Fly-in from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. Saturday, December 3, will be a big day at The Aviation Museum of Kentucky as we will have a special event for kids: A Santa Fly-In. In cooperation with the Lexington Police Dept.'s Air One Unit who will be delivering Santa for his special pre-Christmas via Helicopter. The Museum is also a drop-off site for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. The Family Center and the town of Wilmore are having an Old-Fashioned Musical Christmas from 5:30pm to 8pm. Come celebrate an Old-Fashioned Christimas with the City of Wilmore. After the hot chocolate and tree lighting, residents are invited to tour downtown businesses for open houses, carriage rides, and many different musical experiences!The Family Center (next to the caboose) will be participating with a show stopping family friendly musical act, a large lite-up Christmas Village with moving displays (carosel, train, ponds, etc), Christmas Crafts and games, AND as usual a clean, warm, place to rest, get little ones wiggles out and use restrooms and changing table.334 E. Martine's is having an Open House with Santa from 10am to 4pm. Our Open House welcome to our house! Martine's second annual holiday party, serving complimentary desserts, pastries and beverage. The Explorium is having a Tween night from 6:30pm to 9pm. A great night out for the tweens in your house! Drop them off at 6:30 for tons of fun activities, food, and prizes! It's $15 per tween. 440 W Short Street. More information here.

Boone Tavern in Berea is having a Breakfast with Santa from 8am to 10am. Bring your little ones to Historic Boone Tavern to have their picture taken with Santa and enjoy a yummy made from scratch buffet breakfast for just $15 per person! Buffet includes eggs, pancakes, bacon, potatoes, fruit, yogurt, toast, milk, juice, and coffee. December 3rd 8am-10am Reservations required. Morning Pointe of Lexington is having Pancakes with Santa from 9:30am to 11am. Why not wake up to sweet stacks of pancakes? UK School of Arts and Visual Studies is having a Dog Photos with Santa event from 10am to 2pm. PAWS (Promoting Animal Welfare and Services) is hosting its second Pictures with Santa PAWS! Bring your dog for a photo shoot with Santa from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in the School of Art and Visual Studies! There is a $5 minimum donation per animal. This event welcomes all friendly dogs (on a leash) to take a picture with Santa! All donations benefit a local, nonprofit rescue called Paris Animal Welfare Society, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization in Paris, Kentucky. The School of Art and Visual Studies is located at 236 Bolivar St. Enter from the Bolivar Street parking lot entrance and follow the signs. Free parking is provided in the lot and at the meters outside the building. There will be a brief 30-minute lunch break from 12:30-1 p.m. for Santa. Guests are welcome to observe the art and enjoy refreshments during this time. More information here.

Barnes and Noble is having a How the Grinch Stole Christmas Storytime from 11am to 1130am. "Grow Your Heart 3 Sizes!" and celebrate all things Grinch with a reading of the classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! We will have good deed badges and tracking booklets for kids to log all the good things they do this holiday season. Activities to follow.

Children's Tea Time with Mrs. Claus at Shaker Village at 12pm and 3pm. Dress your little ones in their holiday finery for an afternoon with Mrs. Claus. Enjoy spiced cider, cookies and sandwiches made for little fingers. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult. $10 per person. Fee includes complimentary admission to the Village, which grants you access to The Historic Centre, The Farm and The Preserve, with a full day of self-guided and staff-led tours, talks, demonstrations, activities, farm experiences and more. Sunday, December 4th

Re-Kid is having Portraits with Santa event from 11am to 3pm. Santa is coming to Re-Kid for Christmas portraits! He will be in the store on December 4th from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.
