What's Going on this Weekend- January 7th and 8th

Some great choices this weekend as things start to slow down after the holidays. In Louisville, check out Sports Fest for your athlete or Lego BrickUniverse for your Lego fanatic. Some fun storytimes and a Limitless Leaders Girls Conference. After the touch of snow earlier this week, it will be a cold one this weekend with highs in the low to mid-20s.

Saturday, January 7th

Home Depot is having a Kids Workshop event making a Crate Toolbox from 9am to 12pm. Join our hands-on workshop and you and your child can get to work on a wood toolbox they can use for keeping anything from art supplies to toys neat and portable. Once the toolbox is built, your child can paint it in their favorite color.All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin. At the Harrodsburg or Richmond Road locations. More information here.

Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville is having a Sports Fest from 10am to 6pm. SportsFest is the ultimate family friendly sports experience! The Show Floor features 15 interactive sports zones where kids can participate in a challenge to earn a wristband for each zone. Wristbands are earned simply by participating! Clinics will also be offered throughout the weekend for various sports on a first come first serve basis. Clinic spaces will be limited but all of the sports zone challenges will be on-going where every child can participate! SportsFest will also be filled with giveaways, showcases and exhibitors! The Sports Zones are suitable for kids ages 5-18, with some areas suitable for kids as young as 3. Kids 5 and under free, general admission $10 and family package is $25 per family (2 adults and 2 children). More information here.

Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville is having a Lego BrickUniverse from 10am to 4pm. The ultimate Lego Fan Experience with building areas, model galleries, special guests, and market merchants. Children 2 and under are free and general admission is $15. More information here.

The Lyric Theatre is having a Limitless Leaders Girls Conference to motivate, inspire and educate girls from 10am to 3pm. Conference includes a Q & A panel with female community leaders, arts and crafts by On the Move Art Studio, local youth entrepreneur spotlight, and zumba celebration. $10 entry includes tshirt, lunch and snacks throughout the day. 300 East Third Street. Walmart on Nicholasville Road is having Tony the Tiger from 10am to 4pm. More information here.

Joseph Beth is having a Baby It's Cold Outside storytime at 11am. Formal feathered friends like Penguins love the chilly temperatures! Dress in black and white as we share songs, stories and make a craft celebrating all the wonderful things about winter! More information here.

Barnes and Noble is having a Clifford's Good Deeds and Clifford the Big Red Dog storytime at 11am. For this fun, classic Storytime, young readers are invited into the happy world of Clifford the Big Red Dog and his friends. We will read favorites Clifford's Good Deeds and Clifford the Big Red Dog. Northside Library is having a movie and popcorn event from 2pm to 2:45pm. Watch some short, book based movies with popcorn and drink and make a winter craft. Ages 3-7. More information here.
