What's Going on this Weekend January 14th and 15th

Rain, rain and more rain in the forecast this weekend. But, lots of fun things both inside and outside for you to do with your kids. Get some outdoor time in with fun events at the Arboretum and McConnell Springs. Check out a dinosaur storytime at Barnes and Noble, Lego event or craft event at the local libraries, and a science event at Joseph Beth. Sky Zone is also having a sensory friendly jump hour on Sunday night. Hope everyone has an awesome long weekend!

Saturday, January 14th

If your kids are donut fans, Metropolitan Donuts is having a Grand Opening from 7am to 2pm. It's finally here...our Grand Opening of Metropolitan Donuts and Coffee! We do our donuts and coffee differently at Metropolitan. Our donuts are made to order your way, our way, or on the way. You can get them as we make them for you; you can get them and make them as you want in our self serve, decorate stations; or you can grab a box and go from our grab and go counter (they are the only donuts that are pre-made). McConnell Springs is having an Outdoor Skills event at 9am. Learn skills related to outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, orienteering, paddling and backpacking. Call 859-225-4073 for information.

The Arboretum is having a Winter Life event from 10am to 11am and 2pm to 3pm. What do animals do during winter? Are trees still alive? Learn the answers to these questions (and more!) during our Winter Life program. Preregistration is requested but not required. $1 per person, cash only. Be sure to dress for the outdoors. Lexington Dance Factory has a Mommy and Me class (ages walking to 2 years) from 9am to 9:30am. Free. More information here.

Barnes and Noble in Hamburg is having a How Do Dinosaurs Choose Their Pets? storytime at 11am. Perfect for every child who has ever loved or yearned for a pet, this uproarious new book delights readers of all ages as they peek into the mischievous world of Jane Yolen and Mark Teague's bestselling 'How Do Dinosaurs...' series. Joseph Beth is having a You Blinded Me With Science event at 11am. Join us as we fight cabin fever with some extra fun and slightly messy science experiments perfect for curious kids! Ages 5 and up.

Sunday, January 15th

Sky Zone is having a Sensory Friendly Jump Hour at 7pm. Do you know a jumper that would benefit from jumping at Sky Zone but needs a more Sensory Friendly experience?We will turn off the music and dial down the distractions for jumpers of all ages and their families on Sunday, January 15th from 7pm-8pm. (No school the next day in honor of MLK Day!) The one hour of jumping is $10 per jumper. Help us spread the word about this very special event!
