What's Going on this Weekend January 21st and 22nd

Another fun weekend coming up with lots of free or cheap options for you and your kids! Tons of great storytime options, from a baguette storytime to a hibernation storytime. A STEM event in Wilmore, crafts at both the Tates Creek library and the Central library, or you could get your giggles out at the Funniest Kid Contest at Joseph Beth. If you want to get out and enjoy the warm up, McConnell Springs is having a Jr Naturalist event as well. It's going to be a warm but wet weekend with highs in the 60s. Not too shabby for January!

Saturday, January 21st

McConnell Springs is having a Jr Naturalist event from 10am to 11am. Winter Tree ID – For youth K-5th grade. Please call the park at (859) 225-4073 to register.

The Family Center in Wilmore is having at Logic Play STEM Saturday event from 10am to 12pm. Be sure to join us for this fun family event! You'll test your logic and reasoning skills and even compete again each other! $5 per child! Pay at the door! RSVP by clicking "going" here.

The Family Center in Wilmore will also be having an Education Fair from 1pm to 4pm. As part of The Family Center’s mission to connect families with community resources, we proudly present a unique showcase of Local businesses who serve caregivers and children with through arts education, academics, and other extracurricular activities. Fit4Mom is having a Our Village: Family Day and Coloring Chameleon event at 10:30am. Bring your family and friends for our fun, family workout with a playdate afterward. January is a month talking about colors! Let's practice naming colors with this fun craft to take home- a colorful chameleon! More information here.

Williams-Sonoma is having a American Girl™: Breakfast Party Jr Chef event . Hey, kids—let’s cook breakfast! In this fun American Girl™ class, we’ll prepare some yummy waffles that are perfect for cooking with your friends the morning after a sleepover. $30 includes a copy of American Girl™ Parties.Suitable for ages 8–13. Joseph Beth is having a Hibernation Party at 11:00am! The bears are asleep all winter long while the birds are having a crazy beach party! Celebrate the lovable grouch Mother Bruce with songs, stories and a fun craft! For kids 3 and up. More information here.

Joseph Beth will also be having a Funniest Kid in the Bluegrass event at 2pm. Come watch 12 young comedians battle for the title of "Funniest Kid in the Bluegrass." This event is free and open to the public. The comedians will be judged by a panel of independent local funnymen. Join us at 2pm on the fiction platform for the largest Kids Comedy event. Tates Creek library will be having a Magic School Bus Explores that Five Senses activity from 2pm to 3pm. Enjoy hands-on science with activities related to your five amazing senses. Ages K-3rd grade. Registration required here.

Central Library is having a Nesting Doll Drop In Craft from 2pm to 4pm. Make a set of nesting dolls. Ages K-5th grade.

Barnes and Noble is having a Nanette's Baguette Storytime at11:00 AM. Mo Willems' hilarious new picture book Nanette's Baguette follows our plucky heroine on her first big solo trip to the bakery. But... will Nanette get the baguette from baker Juliette? Or will Nanette soon be beset with regret? Find out at Storytime. More information here.

Carnegie Center is having their Toddler and Early Learner combined event at 10:30am. Join us for story time, parent-assisted activities, snacks, and free books* designed to encourage early excitement for reading through hands-on activities for parent and child. This laid-back atmosphere is friendly to busy toddlers and preschoolers and is a great first-introduction to a story-time setting. Choose one date each month; you may change month-to-month depending on which day works best for you. Lexington Children's Theater is putting on Cow's Don't Fly and Other Known Facts at 2pm. Between a flying cow, a driving pig, and a circus goose – there’s never a dull moment on Miss Rosemary’s farm! It’s a known fact you’ll laugh ‘til your sides hurt in this silly mash-up of three delightful books by Kentucky author Paul Brett Johnson. For ages 4 and up. $15 for children and $18 for adults.
