What's Going on this Weekend? February 4th and 5th

Lots of great activities coming up this weekend! Try out some Superhero Yoga, a Princess Ball, an "I Have a Dream" Children's Ball, watch some hockey games, and check out some storytimes. You could also make a Valentine's Photo box, some silly putty or collect some Pokemon cards. Sky Zone is having a Superbowl Superbash or get your energy out at a Nerf War. Looks like a nice weekend ahead with highs in the 40s on Saturday and in the 50s on Sunday. Have a great one!

Saturday, February 4th

SALA Studio is having a Kid's Superhero Yoga event from 9am to 10am. Our FREE Superhero Yoga event is for children 3-7 years old (siblings are welcome). Dress them up as their fave superhero....it could me a storybook character or a real-life hero, such as police officer or fire fighter. Costumes are optional....please so not feel obligated to dress up your child! We just wanted to add a fun little twist to our Kid's Yoga series. 301 E Vine Street. More information here.

Louisville's Royal Princess Ball is from 9:45am to11:30am or from 4:30pm to 6:15pm at the Louisville Marriott East. An afternoon of magical fun for the whole family, brought to you by Dream Parties! You'll get an amazing opportunity to meet and greet your favorite Princesses!Dream Parties is bringing to you a one-of-a-kind event with stage performances, an etiquette lesson, singing, dancing, stories, craft tables, picture opportunities and more for an afternoon of magical entertainment. The Hopewell Museum in Paris is having a Free Family Fun Hour WWI Poppy Craft from 2pm to 3pm. The workshop is led by Leeann Frank, Visual Arts teacher at Bourbon Central Elementary School. Lyric Theater is having the 3rd Annual "I Have A Dream" Children's Ball from 7pm to 11pm. We will celebrate the youth of the community...Thomas Jarber will be our guest speaker..there will be dinner, music, and entertainment....this is a "Red Carpet Affair" for our youth...ages 7-17. Barnes and Noble in Hamburg is having a Disney Reads Day event at 11am. Celebrate the Magic of Storytelling on Disney Reads Day! Join us as we read popular Disney stories and do fun activities to inspire kids' imaginations. Plus, giveaways including stickers, bookmarks and mini-posters (while supplies last). Ft. Boonesborough State Park is having a Fireside Chats Series- Join us for "A Taste of the Frontier", your evening meal, and then enjoy a first person historical character presentation. Taste of the Frontier served 5:30PM - 6:15PM, Fireside Chat at 6:45PM. The 18th Century Tavern blockhouse will also be open prior to the chats, until about 6:30PM. The Lexington Ice Center is having Hockey Day with games from 8:30am until nearly 8pm. Admission is free and event will also have raffle tickets and DJ/announcer. More information here.

Home Depot is having a Free Kid's Workshop making Valentines Photo Boxes. Join our hands-on workshop and you and your child can build a Valentine-themed photo box, perfect for keeping photos of loved ones front and center. Once the box is built, your child can decorate it with paint and The Home Depot stickers.All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin. Lower Howard's Creek Nature Preserve in Winchester is having a creek walk from 10am to 11am. Winter is a great time to explore Lower Howard’s Creek without its usual cover of vegetation blocking our views of its unique topography. It’s an opportunity to visit areas not usually seen in the other three seasons of the year, and heat is not an issue! All hikes will be at 10 a.m., at the main entrance on Athens-Boonesboro, unless otherwise noted.Dust off your hiking boots and come hike with Dr. Bill Crankshaw, 91 years young and the Preserves most active volunteer. Since this is a Kentucky State Nature Preserve, no dogs are allowed on the hikes. All children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. The terrain at the Preserve is quite steep and rocky, so please wear appropriate shoes or boots. Group size is limited, and it is requested that you make reservations in advance. The Lexington Opera House is having a Chinese New Year Celebration from 4pm to 9pm. Holiday market with festival foods, crafts, traditional costumes, calligraphy, mini Chinese class, cultural displays and family activities.
