What's Going on This Weekend- February 25th and 26th

This weekend, check out Engineer's Day at UK, a Dr. Seuss storytime or a ninja storytime, a LEGO Batman event, try out hockey, Discovery Saturday at the Living Arts and Science Center, play some chess, or make a Mardi Gras mask. Huge change in weather this weekend, with highs in the high 40s and some clouds. Hope everyone has a fun-filled weekend!

Saturday, February 25th

University of Kentucky is having Engineer's Day from 9am to 1pm. Engineers Day, or E-Day, is a celebration of everything engineering and computer science has to offer. It's open to any and all elementary, middle, and high school students and their families. Pre-registration isn't required but encouraged. Most activities do not a have start time, although a few contests will have a definitive time for judging. Approximately 150 demonstrations, exhibits, and contests hosted by UK students and departments, government organizations, and industry will be on hand to amaze, inform, and delight you! Free. Lexington Ice Center is having a Try Hockey for Free event from 10am to 11am. Central Kentucky Hockey Association (CKHA) invites boys and girls to the Lexington Ice Center on Saturday, Feb. 25th for a Try Hockey For Free clinic as part of Hockey Week Across America. Starting at 10:00 AM, local youth, ages 4 to 10, are encouraged to experience ice hockey for the first time and learn the basic skills in a fun, safe environment.USA Hockey's Try Hockey program, with the support of the National Hockey League and NHL member clubs, among others, is designed to provide youth hockey associations with a national platform to introduce new kids to the sport. Total Hockey and Liberty Mutual Insurance are official sponsors of Try Hockey For Free Days. USA Hockey has close to 300 locations offering this unique opportunity to kids nationwide. The Living Arts and Science Center is having a Discovery Saturday with Family Workshops. Friends and Family can take advantage of all the NEW opportunities at the LASC in our Space exhibit, art exhibits, hands-on Makers Space, our Planetarium, and NOW you can also choose additional fun-filled art activity designed for all ages and all skill levels. AM Workshop (10:30 - Noon) Paper Marbling with Maggie Rogers.This workshop will focus on paper/fabric marbling. You will be introduced to the history, the process, and many products. Barnes and Noble is having a Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! Storytime at 11am. Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! Barnes and Noble is also having a The LEGO® Batman Movie Event at 2pm. We continue our three-month series of events celebrating The LEGO Batman Movie. Kids will be called to put their detective skills to the test with themed activities as well as make & play moments with LEGO bricks/blocks. Sky Zone has Toddler Time from 10am to 11am. Let your kids 5 and under enjoy three different jumping areas, including a foam pit. Toddler Time is a great shared experience for child and parent. Ft. Boonesborough State Park is having a Fireside Chats Series- Join us for "A Taste of the Frontier", your evening meal, and then enjoy a first person historical character presentation, this week is Maggie Delaney Indentured Servant. Taste of the Frontier served 5:30PM - 6:15PM, Fireside Chat at 6:45PM. The 18th Century Tavern blockhouse will also be open prior to the chats, until about 6:30PM.
