What's Happening this Weekend March 25th and March 26th

Tons of great (mostly free) events this weekend! Have some fun with the Easter Bunny, Superhero Saturday, Baby Shower for the Animals, Hunt for Hope, Mermaid Party and lots more. Warmer weather this weekend with highs on Saturday in the 70s and in the high 60s on Sunday. But, looks like some rain on Sunday is in the forecast.

Saturday, March 25th

Once Upon a Child is having free pictures with the Easter Bunny from 1pm to 4pm. More information here.

Fayette Mall is having a Bunny Arrival Party from 9am to 12pm. Put on your bunny ears and hop over to Fayette Mall to welcome the Easter Bunny in the Dillard's Court! At 9:00am, enjoy a special storytime with the Bunny. At 9:30am, kids will learn how to do the "Bunny Hop" along with the Bunny and other special guests including Big L from the Lexington Legends.Plus, there will be free sugar cookie decorating with Great American Cookies!This will be a sweet and special morning for kids and parents to celebrate together. Fit4Mom is having an Our Village: Family Day Stretch and Grow Playdate from 9:30am to 11am. Bring your family and friends for a Free Family Workout with a fun play date for the kids afterward! We have Stretch & Grow of the Bluegrass coming to facilitate a class for the kids! Workout at 9:30am, play date immediately afterward at 10:30am. We hope to see you there! More information here.

Camp Catalpa in Richmond is having a Nature Day from 10am to 12pm. Join the Richmond Parks & Recreation Department along with the EKU Recreation & Park Administration Department for a morning of nature activities for all ages. Scavenger hunts, nature themed crafts, hiking, games and more! Learn about Leave No Trace and experience the only Urban Forest in Richmond, KY. The Living Arts and Science Center is having a Discovery Saturday and Family Workshop from 10am to 2pm. DISCOVERY SATURDAYS: A FULL DAY OF FUN FOR ALL AGES! Friends and Family can take advantage of all the NEW opportunities at the LASC in our Space exhibit, art exhibits, hands-on Makers Space, our Planetarium, and NOW you can also choose additional fun-filled art activity designed for all ages and all skill levels. J's Place in Nicholasville is having a Superhero Saturday event from 11am to 1pm. Batman, Superman, Captain America AND Spiderman will be at J's Place on Saturday, March 25th! Oh my! What fun! Bring your little superheros and join us for a FREE photo op and craft! More information here.

EKU Center for the Arts is performing Seussical at 3pm. “Oh, the thinks you can think” when Dr. Seuss’s best-loved stories collide in an unforgettable musical caper. Will anyone rescue the people of Who-ville who live on a speck of dust? Will Maysie return for her egg? It’s a rollicking crazy-quilt adventure in which the limitless imagination of Dr. Seuss comes to life. Tickets start at $15 and all persons need tickets, including infants. More information here.

Raven Run is having a Stargazing event from 8:15pm to 10pm. Meetings begin around sunset and last two to three hours. There is no rain date. The main gate at Raven Run is open for parking and park personnel there will direct you to the observing field.Persons with telescopes can drive up a dirt road by the barn (turn off just before the main gate) and park at the edge of the observing field.If the weather is partly cloudy, call the park around 6:30 p.m. (859-272-6105) to see whether it's a go. Eastside Library is having Chess Mates 10am to 11:30am. Drop-in Chess play! Learn chess basics, meet other chess players, and play pick-up games. All skill levels welcome! For ages 8 and up. More information here.

Barnes and Noble is having a Create Your Own Little Golden Book Storytime at 11am. In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Little Golden Book, join us to create your very own Little Golden Book to take home. We will read classic Little Golden Book titles such as The Monster at the End of This Book (Sesame Street Series). More information here.

Joseph Beth is having a Cinderella Preview featuring The Lexington Ballet Saturday, March 25 at 11:00 am. The Prince is giving a Royal Ball and all eligible young ladies are cordially invited! The Lexington Ballet brings the timeless tale of Cinderella to life in a production that will delight the entire family. Join us for a special storytime preview of this fantastic performance! Sky Zone has Toddler Time from 10am to 11am. Let your kids 5 and under enjoy three different jumping areas, including a foam pit. Toddler Time is a great shared experience for child and parent. A time for your little ones to discover the joy of being active, bouncing under the supervision of their parents, and without interference from the big kids. $12 per child, including socks. $2 extra for non-jumper parent socks. Kentucky Wildlife Center is having their 2nd Annual Baby Shower for Animals from 11am to 4pm. Fun games and crafts, silent auction. $1 hotdogs and chips, free cake and drinks. More information here.

8th Annual Hunt for Hope at Pleasant Ridge Park from 1:30pm to 3pm. It's that time of year!Join us to celebrate Aiden Zumwalt and raise overall awareness about congenital heart disease and at the same time raise money to support this family and other families with children affected by CHD. The "Hunt for Hope" is for children of all ages. There will be games, face painting, pictures with the Easter bunny, food, and refreshments from 1:30-2:10 and the hunt will begin at 2:15. To help raise money we will be asking for a $15 donation for each child participating. All donations are tax deductible! NEW THIS YEAR! Pre-order your tickets online through our website. Beaumont Library is having a Mermaid Party and Book Signing at 2pm. Debbie Dadey, author of the Mermaid Tales book series, will join two other authors for a book signing and party. Water for Daisies event at Aqua Tots from 3pm to 6pm. Want to learn more about getting your girl involved in Girl Scouts? Bring your Kindergarten and 1st grade girls out to our fun filled swimming event! Adults must remain with girls at all times. More information here.

Sky Zone is having a Sensory Friendly Event from 7pm to 8pm. We will turn off the music and dial down the distractions for jumpers who need a more sensory friendly experience. This special time is open to jumpers with all special needs and their families and the price is just $10 for the 60 min jump (includes SkySocks.) Mad Mushroom is generously donating pizza for everyone to enjoy after the jump. Please plan to arrive at 6:40pm to check-in for the 7pm jump. More information here.
